This interview was received back by e-mail on the 2nd of March 2001.
What does the J stand for?
Jean!! My grandmother was Elsie Jean, my mother Susan Jean, and so I'm Jodie Jean! I shall call my child Billy Jean, Rock Wash or tight!!
Do you prefer to perform by yourself or with someone else?
I love both! There are some things you can't do by yourself and there are things you prefer to do alone.
What are the main differences between performing with Jo Stanley and without her?
She's my best friend and I love her and we work really well together. I miss her when I'm by myself yet it's important to be an individual as well.
What's it like to work on radio?
It's ace and it sucks. The people who call in are really cool and you can chat away and have a good laugh. It sucks because you can't see or hear your audience.
Describe your favourite moment, being a guest on Good News Week.
Making Paul McDermott laugh, hugging Julie, telling the Sandman he was cute and having Mickey want me to be on his team.
What's the weirdest pick up line that's ever been used on you?
"Is your father a thief?..No? Then who stole the stars and put them in your eyes?" I nearly decked a guy in rage because I didn't wait to hear the star bit and I was so enraged that he could be so outrageous in insuating that my dad was a crook that I did't realise he was picking me up until it was too late!!
If someone was debating whether or not to catch a performance you were in, what would you do to convince them to see you?
You'll laugh and feel better!
Where was the best place you've ever performed?
This kind of question leaves you in a state of confusion. They've been so many places and times where a things just go so right and the audience and myself just feel like having a cigarette after the performance!! heheh but that would be bad because smoking is bad.
Describe that performance.
aaah I didn't read this question in time...ok that performance is when I was telling it like it was and the audience knew and were listening and going "we're hearing you sister!"
What is your favourite pass time?
Ornithology
What made you decide to get into comedy in the first place?
A dare, a whim, a thought, an unexplained desire to make a fool of myself for money.
Has being a comedian changed you?
It has allowed me to express myself, travel, meet wonderful people and to disect life and see it how it really should be - funny
Did you ever see yourself in this position when you were younger?
Like many people, I've always wanted to be famous and love talking about myself (hence this interview!). My parents once hosted a dinner party and found me taking notes on what they were saying! I got some good material that night!
Is there anything else you'd like to say?
Have you seen Almost Famous? It's a great movie! I'd also like to note that this is really weird to write all this stuff without meeting you in person or the people who may find this interesting...but hey human interest stories rock because it's all REAL!! Good luck Dominica with your journalistic, weblike career
Love Jodie!!
